Who We Are

Warranty Wallet is operated by Gulbrandsen Apps, a sole proprietorship (enkeltpersonforetak) registered in Norway (org. no. 938 324 484), which is the data controller for the personal data described below. For privacy inquiries, contact privacy@warrantywallet.dev.

What We Collect

WarrantyWallet collects the following information to provide and improve the service:

• Account information: Email address, display name, and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
• Warranty data: Product names, descriptions, purchase dates, expiration dates, store names, and purchase prices that you enter.
• Receipt images: Photos of receipts you choose to upload for OCR scanning or record-keeping.
• Household data: If you join a household, your display name and masked email are visible to other household members.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide warranty tracking, notifications, and household sharing features.
• To read receipt images using AI-based optical character recognition (OCR). When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic (the Claude AI service, processed in the United States) to extract details such as the product, store, date and warranty terms; if that service is unavailable, Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence is used as a fallback. These providers process your image only to return the extracted information, may retain it briefly for abuse monitoring under their own policies, and do not use it to train their AI models.
• To send password reset emails via Azure Communication Services when you request them.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Microsoft Azure servers located in Europe. Receipt images are stored in Azure Blob Storage with time-limited access tokens. Passwords are hashed using BCrypt and are never stored in plain text.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the app on our behalf:

• Microsoft Azure: As our cloud infrastructure provider, for hosting, database storage, fallback OCR processing, and email delivery.
• Anthropic: The AI provider that reads your receipt images (OCR) to extract their details. Images are processed only to return the extracted text and are not used to train AI models.
• Household members: Only warranty data you explicitly mark as "shared with household" is visible to other members of your household.

Your Rights

You can:

• View, edit, or delete your warranties and receipt images at any time within the app.
• Leave a household at any time, which will unshare all your warranties.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.

Camera Permission

WarrantyWallet requests camera access solely to photograph receipts for OCR scanning. Camera access is only used when you choose to scan a receipt. No images are captured without your action.

Children's Privacy

WarrantyWallet is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
